Jesus Demonstrated Effective Leadership
We are all called to be leaders in some area or another. As a housewife, you lead your children. A CEO leads his top management. Management leads those who submit under them. Husbands leads their wives. It is vital that we understand this call to leadership in order not to abuse our roll as leaders. The best way to do this is to look to Jesus the Author and the Finisher of our faith.
Hebrews 12:2-5 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
A true leader should look to Jesus, he should consider Him in all his ways in order to lead the way Jesus did. Jesus led by example. He endured the cross, the shame, the persecution as a great leader in order to lead us to the Father. As we come to the Father, we are being changed and we no longer want to carry on a life of sin. True leadership begins on its knees and in a humble relationship with his Creator. A true leader will first submit to God and to his leadership and then seek to lead others. A true leader will allow God to correct him. Look what Jesus had to say about leadership:
Matthew 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.
Jesus never demanded respect!
ü Trained by demonstration
ü Led by example
ü Communicated vision
ü Fellowshipped with the Father
ü He said of Himself, He can do nothing
These are the traits of a true leader, one who’s ways the Father can bless. Seek not only to have such a leader, but seek to be one in your area of influence in Jesus’ Name.
